Transformers 2 Gets an Official Title

ComingSoon.net has confirmation from a variety of sources confirming the official title for the sequel to Transformers.

Here it is….

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

Anyone else notice how studios shy away from sticking to numbers in the title….I guess it doesn’t always work, but I think in some cases it works…others it doesn’t. Spiderman 2 is the most obvious choice….that movie wouldn’t be the same if it had a subtitle.

Still…this sounds cool, and I’m still finding it hard to believe that in just about a year a sequel to Transformers will already be hitting the big screen…..

Optimus Prime reactions…

You know, as I go over some posts from a few months back when they first starting releasing the flurry of Transformers pictures, I remember thinking that Optimus Prime would look weird with lips.  They had that horrible looking “test shot”, and the “not-Peter Cullen” voice going on.

Having seen the film a couple of times, I have to say it really ended up working really well with the facial features on the robots.  It was done in an incredibly realistic way, and not once did I think to myself it would have looked better with Optimus’ face shield up instead.  It’s so lifelike and well-done by the animators at ILM, that I’m actually glad they did it the way they did.

It’s going to be interesting to see how, and if, they tweak it in the inevitable sequel….

Transformers Lights Up the Holiday Box-Office!

I’m glad to see the returns for Transformers are turning out very well….near expectations for many of the predictions.

The one thing I’d like to have seen is what it would have pulled down if it had released on a Friday instead of a Tuesday (and even Monday night!).

For the 3-day weekend, Transformers racked up an estimated $67.6 million….Honestly, I would have liked to have seen it crack $70 million, but add that total to the $85 million or so it made up until Friday, and you’ve got some good numbers.

Also, the ratings are holding up surprisingly well. It still has a solid A- on the Yahoo! ratings, which is not a common feat. The last time I remember a movie pulling that off was X2: X-Men United….I’m sure there have been others, but off the top of my head I can’t think of any blockbusters that scored that high.

Transformers Final Trailer!

The final trailer is up for Transformers, and it’s a good one!  I’m not really disappointed by the Optimus mouth anymore….

 This movie looks great…I’ll be glad to rub it in how good it is to all the fanboys who are still mad about Michael Bay…..

These babies are hi-res looks at most of the Transformers in the film, and they look pretty cool if you ask me…..Now just need to see all of them in motion.

This movie is probably my most anticipated at the moment….right in front of Harry Potter…

New Transformers Clip!

Josh Duhamel was on The Ellen Degeneres Show yesterday and brought a clip with him.  Still no big reveals, but it does give a good look at the helicopter transformation that we’ve already seen.

This movie is really ramping up…Hard to believe it is finally almost here!

More Transformers images surfacing!

There’s a good couple of pics up from a preview of Transformers over at Coming Soon!

There’s a confirmed photo of Optimus Prime and his full face.  Honestly, I’m much more convinced that I’ll be ok with the way his mouth lips, because it’s nowhere nearly as bad as that shot from that European trailer…..Once I see it in motion, I’ll make a final judgement, but I’m slightly more at ease about the fact he has lips, because that still seems slightly weird.

The first Transformers review is out!

I glanced over this spoilerish review from a preview screening of Transformers….I was already excited about this movie, but this makes it that much longer of a wait.

I won’t go over any of the specifics, but it sounds like it’s typical Michael Bay, whom I’ve always been a fan of (but like the reviewer, also didn’t really enjoy Pearl Harbor).  This one is inching up to the top of my “most anticipated of Summer 2007” list.

The one gripe I have, and which I thought might have not been true, is that the lips are still apparently on Prime when he has the face shield down…..Maybe, just maybe, they’ll listen to all the complaints about how bad of an idea it really is.  It’s just going to come off as weird if it’s anywhere close to what was in that “test shot” last week.

I’ll wait to officially say it was a bad idea until I see what they’ve done, but still….Robots don’t need to have lips.

International Transformers Poster

Check out the new international theatrical poster for this summer’s Transformers.

They really do like that eye picture…it’s hung around since the teaser poster way back when.  I’m totally psyched to see how this one turns out on July 4th….it should be huge!
