The Office – “Goodbye, Toby” Musings

with 3 comments

SPOILER ALERT…If you haven’t watched The Office, READ NO FURTHER!

SPOILERS AHEAD

SPOILERS AHEAD

SERIOUSLY….NO MORE WARNINGS. SPOILER ALERT!

I’ll fill this in at some point after Lost, but how could the writers even dare leave out a proposal from Jim?!?

I guess they had everyone gunning for it, so it is a curveball, but I can imagine many people, myself included, are absolutely livid that they didn’t have Jim propose to Pam.

Lots of unexpected twists made up for this omission, but the wait through the summer is going to be torture.

Musings:

-Tobey hitting on Pam comes off as creepy….EVERY TIME

-If Pam is going to school in New York, is she going to leave her job?

-Ryan’s gone! Ryan’s GONE!

-Holly thinking Kevin was “special” was hilarious….HILARIOUS

-Oscar’s line about the beard…..priceless

Many more to come after a second viewing later….For now…..Lost !!

More The Office Season Finale Rumblings

leave a comment »

This post over a Watch with Kristin teases tonights Office finale in an evil, although satisfying way, saying:

  • There are 4 or 5 “no-way” moments
  • Prior episodes have subtly established big twists and spinoff possibilities
  • It’s insane!

I’m a huge fan of twists and turns (as evidenced by my discussions about Lost twist endings with friends)…so, this is very good news.

Also excited to see where the spinoff talk leads, because it’s potentially another great show that I’ll be glad to watch from the beginning.

Let the speculation begin…you can guarantee I’ll be glued to my TV tonight during the 1-hour Office season 4 finale!

Survivor: Fans vs. Favorites Winner Declared!

leave a comment »

I know this is about two days too late, but I just wanted to mention that Parvati ended up winning Survivor: Fans vs. Favorites on Sunday.

Honestly, I’m not quite sure how she pulled it off, because during the final tribal council she essentially seemed to be acting nonchalant, like she didn’t care whether she won or not….apparently it worked better than Amanda’s responses.

I didn’t ever notice any acting or extreme lies that she tried to pull in her comments, but after watching her cry when she had to vote either Cirie or Parvati out was pretty ridiculous, as evidenced by her grin and comment the following morning.

“I wouldn’t want to be here with any other person right now.”

Oh, what about Cirie?  That woman you had the so difficult time voting out last night?

That was annoying, but in the end I was rooting for her anyway.  I guess I didn’t realize she was the 2nd place finisher in Survivor: China also….

I’m already looking forward to picking up an HDTV to catch the next installment, Survivor: Gabon.  I still say they should have made the logo a little more colorful, though.

Weekend Musing: Survivor: Fans vs. Favorites Finale

leave a comment »

Survivor: Fans vs. Favorites has been another great season, but going into this finale on Sunday, I’m honestly not that excited to see any of the final 4 survivors win.

Natalie turned into an evil and conniving player during the final four episodes or so, after going the whole season without even speaking to the camera…..

Amanda has turned evil too, after pretending to be nice to Erik when he took her on the reward challenge, then returning to tribal council and basically tearing him apart for the second week in a row….

Cirie has been a mastermind from the beginning, somehow always managing to get her way….I think of the 4, she’s got the best shot at winning…but I won’t exactly jump for joy if it does happen…..
And Parvati, who thinks she apparently knows the game in and out, and was at one point called out for thinking she was in charge when she really wasn’t. And since when was she ever an all-star. I think she got voted out pretty early in her game, and even if she didn’t, she wasn’t playing the game like she is now…which is better, I suppose.

Either way, I think the main thing I’ll enjoy after seeing this Sunday’s finale is the preview for Survivor’s next installment, which, if sources are correct should be Survivor: Gabon. (Basically, Survivor: Africa 2)

Survivor Micronesia Musings

leave a comment »

You know, I’ve been expecting all along that Natalie would have some screen time in an episode, considering she’s hung around this long.

I just didn’t quite expect her to be as cocky and arrogant as she came off in tonight’s episode. She literally owned the episode…I think about 75% of those talking heads were hers, and what was with the expanded lead-in to tribal council with her STILL talking?!

She needs to go….with Cirie…..

The thing I don’t understand is why Amanda and James were all mopey, just hoping that Jason did what he ended up doing….If they had spoken with Jason, told him that Natalie was going to stab him in the back, and then talked to Erik, who is on the outs since it was Girls vs. Guys, that would have given them the numbers to flip it right back at Parvati, Natalie and Alexis.

Seriously…That makes sense, doesn’t it?

I thought these players were supposed to be All-Stars….

NBC Shows Some Smarts…Says No to O.J.

leave a comment »

I’m glad that NBC and the people behind casting for the inevitable Celebrity Apprentice 2 had the smarts to NOT put O.J. Simpson on the show.

After all the problems he’s had with the law in the past few years, he doesn’t deserve to be featured on a national television program. It’d be like rewarding him for being the way he is, and I think there’s one thing that’s pretty obvious…he’s no role model.

Even so, like The Apprentice before it, I don’t think there’s any way that follow up seasons of the show will ever top the 1st season. Piers Morgan was an absolute perfect choice to make that show entertaining, and there’s just no topping that.

Survivor Returning to Africa?!

leave a comment »

I’ve always been a huge fan of Survivor: Africa from way back in the day….It had easily some of the best casting for any season that’s ever been produced, and despite a lot of people complaining it was not the best of seasons, I’ve always thought it shined as one of the best.

With that said, it’s a very exciting development to see that Africa is possibly being considered for the 17th season of Survivor, and also the first season to be shot entirely in HD.

The location is known as Gabon, and is in Western Africa….They had me at Africa….though, I am curious to see if it’s as desolate as Kenya was, or if it might be in a more wooded area.

Either way…I’m there. Bring on this season’s finale so we can see what the logo looks like. If it’s good enough, I might just have to get some new Survivor-themed gear.

The Office Season Finale Rumblings

with 2 comments

Over at Watch With Kristin, they’ve posted a preview of what to possibly expect for this season’s Office finale.

While I might normally expect these types of posts to be filled with spoilery goodness, today it’s not so.  But it does make some interesting points that set up a potentially HUGE finale.

The main thing she points out is that we know Jim is going to propose.  Also, after the episode this week, Pam pretty much knows it too.  The thing is, there’s apparently something bigger out there…..and I can’t really imagine what it would be.

The fact that there’s also a mention of a green screen being used in at least one scene doesn’t really answer any questions, other than the fact that Jim and Pam might go on some exotic getaway, but that seems too simple.

What’s in store for The Office at the end of this season?  I don’t really know….but I’m hoping they floor us like they did with that Season 2 finale…still one of the best hours (well, 40 minutes) of television ever.

Any thoughts?

Survivor goes High-Def

leave a comment »

I’m actually psyched to read this latest news…

I remember reading an article about a month ago wondering why Survivor on CBS hadn’t made the transition to HD.  Low and behold, here we are a month later, and it’s officially announced that the 17th edition of the show will be shot in HD.

Survivor has always been a beautiful show with a lot of stunning locales and awesome beauty shots….I think this might be just the catalyst for a lot of the shows fans to go out and upgrade to HD (if they haven’t already).

Survivor Micronesia Musings

with one comment

Just a couple musings from tonight’s episode, because they really stood out to me.

I think it’s becoming more and more clear how much we actually don’t see on a weekly basis during each episode of Survivor.   Here’s a couple things that brought this to my attention tonight:

1) Natalie (I think that’s her name…) has yet to do a confessional to the camera (at least that has aired), yet she’s managed to stick around this long.  How does that happen?  Does anyone else notice she never says anything?!  Either she’s playing really smart and staying under the radar, or apparently the producers feel she has nothing important to say.

2) Apparently Alexis and Ozzy got to know each other a lot better than has ever been shown when they were on Exile Island….She basically took the place of Amanda, and was hanging all over him…..Yet, since they’ve gone to Exile, not once had she ever said anything about Ozzy…they just showed them walking to their boat that ONE time…..Alexis also got a LOT of screen time and spoke much more than she ever has…..

The style of this season is just a little peculiar….not that I’m not enjoying it.
