TMNT- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles returns to the big screen this weekend….I was a fan of this back in the late 80’s/early 90’s….have to say I want to see this one, even if it is computer animation….it could turn out to be lame, but i usually predict Box Office numbers to be the opposite of the Rottentomatoes.com rankings….Hopefully the plot isn’t too ridiculous, but its rated PG and should have at least 2 good weeks. I predict 24 million in ticket sales this weekend.
Shooter- This looks like an interesting choice as well. I’m a Mark Wahlberg fan, at least i have been for the past few years. Antione Fuqua is directing this one…i haven’t seen Training Day, but everything he’s done since then has been a letdown, maybe this one can get him back on track…I’m predicting about 19 million from Shooter this weekend…
All of the other releases this weekend aren’t worth writing about….but i predict the following Box Office Numbers:
TMNT- 24 Mill
Shooter- 19 Million
300- 18.5 Million
Wild Hogs-13.6 Million
Premonition- 11 Million
The Last Mimzy-10 million
Reign Over Me- 6 Million
All you HSX’ers (hsx.com) enjoy these predictions.
Anyone else catch the new Venom-centric Spiderman 3 trailer with 300 over the weekend?
I thought it was another great trailer, but it definitely makes me wonder how much new footage is left for the actual movie. It seems to me they are revealing a lot of plot points that would be better off kept secret. I still like to imagine what it would be like if it wasn’t known that Venom was going to be in it. That would’ve been huge! (and probably nearly impossible to do).
The one film I think that is doing a good job of this, mainly because of the director, is Transformers. So far, 2 trailers, no big reveals on Autobots or Decepticons (we still haven’t seen Optimus Prime in motion from the front), and a heck of a lot of buzz.
Transformers is easily becoming one of my most hyped films for this summer…..Of course, there’s still Harry Potter in there too. We should get trailers for both of these films in the coming weeks, if I had to guess.
300, the latest incarnation of a Frank Miller graphic novel, made $27.7 million at the box-office on Friday alone.
So much for my prediciton that it wouldn’t crack $30 million for the weekend…..Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad it’s doing well, I just didn’t expect it to do this well! After Sin City, I thought it might be a big hype, and then die off.
It looks like I’ve been proven wrong, and my HSX port is going to suffer dearly for it…..
Look for final figures sometime tomorrow. I’m planning on seeing it this afternoon.

There’s a convention called WonderCon going on right now, and people there were apparently shown a new Venom-centric trailer that is supposedly pretty good. I thought I’d read the article, but then stopped myself a couple of sentences in so that I can be surprised when I see it later this week.
For those who may not know, if you go to see 300 this week, there is going to be yet another Spiderman 3 trailer out. It seems like this is one more than usual, and I’m honestly hoping they haven’t shown all the major action sequences, but at this rate, it seems like they will have given up a heck of a lot of footage.
Either way, I’m sure the movie will still be good….it’s just getting to the point where movie execs make so many previews they give away all the cool scenes and lots of plot points.
Maybe we’ll be lucky enough to see the trailer posted online early before Friday.
For some reason I’m getting more and more excited about Frank Miller’s 300, which comes out next week. I remember really liking Sin City, after not expecting much…but in this case, it looks even slightly cooler than that. Something about Gladiator-style movies always seems to appeal to me, and in this case the movie looks so stylized I don’t see how I can’t like it.
Also, there’s apparently a lot of slow motion, which I usually like for some reason too. Hopefully this movie doesn’t disappoint.
Anyway….click the link to head to MTV and watch 300 seconds of 300.
