Fueling my disappointment with Indy 4 was the lack of any big trailer debuts….Indy isn’t tracking as high as I thought it would box-office wise, but it is a very big debut and millions are heading to theaters over the holiday weekend, so any studio wanting people to know about their movie would be dumb not to take advantage.
Instead, I was stuck watching a trailer for something called Benjamin Button (something to that effect, anyway) that looked really weird, a trailer for a heavy-drama Australia, and a bunch of really old trailers I’ve been watching for months.
Where’s the Potter trailer, The Mummy 3 trailer, Star Trek, or something else that would have been unexpected….Quantum of Solace, anyone?
Hopefully in the coming weeks, trailers will start to improve as even more summer blockbusters are released. I hear the Potter teaser will be in Get Smart, which doesn’t quite make sense, but I’ll still be seeing it anyway because Carell looks hilarious in the role.
Look for updates later this week…I’ll be out of town, but will still be on the prowl for movie news.
You know, the one thing I hate about getting all my movie news from blogs is that all the big ones, which is most of them, manage to get press passes to the premieres that happen before it’s officially released.
Then, all the reviews, or even teases of the reviews get posted online….most of the time revealing spoilers, either inadvertenaly or not.
In particular, Movies.com posted a snippet about a news item I’d already read regarding an Indiana Jones 5, but then they casually mention how something might be a spoiler WHEN IT’S NOT a spoiler until they say that.
Here’s a tip…put a spoiler warning BEFORE you’re about to say something about a movie you’ve seen that hasn’t released to the public yet. It’s just stupid not to.
I’m really embracing my role as a spoiler shield for everyone seeing this movie…aren’t I?
Finally….FINALLY there’s a Mummy 3 trailer up to see. It’s considered a teaser, so there may still be more awaiting in the coming weeks. Considering it comes out in just under 3 months, it is really odd to just start promoting this one now.
The trailer has a good preview of Alex O’Connell, the grown up son from the second film. The humor seems right up my alley, and comparable to the first two. Hopefully, this one doesn’t disappoint. I’m keeping expectations as low as possible, because it’s getting absolutely blasted by everyone…..

SPOILER ALERT…If you haven’t watched The Office, READ NO FURTHER!
SERIOUSLY….NO MORE WARNINGS. SPOILER ALERT!
I’ll fill this in at some point after Lost, but how could the writers even dare leave out a proposal from Jim?!?
I guess they had everyone gunning for it, so it is a curveball, but I can imagine many people, myself included, are absolutely livid that they didn’t have Jim propose to Pam.
Lots of unexpected twists made up for this omission, but the wait through the summer is going to be torture.
-Tobey hitting on Pam comes off as creepy….EVERY TIME
-If Pam is going to school in New York, is she going to leave her job?
-Ryan’s gone! Ryan’s GONE!
-Holly thinking Kevin was “special” was hilarious….HILARIOUS
-Oscar’s line about the beard…..priceless
Many more to come after a second viewing later….For now…..Lost !!
This post over a Watch with Kristin teases tonights Office finale in an evil, although satisfying way, saying:
- There are 4 or 5 “no-way” moments
- Prior episodes have subtly established big twists and spinoff possibilities
- It’s insane!
I’m a huge fan of twists and turns (as evidenced by my discussions about Lost twist endings with friends)…so, this is very good news.
Also excited to see where the spinoff talk leads, because it’s potentially another great show that I’ll be glad to watch from the beginning.
Let the speculation begin…you can guarantee I’ll be glued to my TV tonight during the 1-hour Office season 4 finale!
I’ve long been a fan of Nintendo through the years, but in all the time that has passed since the N64 and even SNES glory days, my Nintendo Wii is just now beginning to experience some heavy play time.
Boom Blox, a collaboration between EA and Steven Spielberg, is by far one of the best investments I’ve made into a game for any console in the past 10 years.

I know this is about two days too late, but I just wanted to mention that Parvati ended up winning Survivor: Fans vs. Favorites on Sunday.
Honestly, I’m not quite sure how she pulled it off, because during the final tribal council she essentially seemed to be acting nonchalant, like she didn’t care whether she won or not….apparently it worked better than Amanda’s responses.
I didn’t ever notice any acting or extreme lies that she tried to pull in her comments, but after watching her cry when she had to vote either Cirie or Parvati out was pretty ridiculous, as evidenced by her grin and comment the following morning.
“I wouldn’t want to be here with any other person right now.”
Oh, what about Cirie? That woman you had the so difficult time voting out last night?
That was annoying, but in the end I was rooting for her anyway. I guess I didn’t realize she was the 2nd place finisher in Survivor: China also….
I’m already looking forward to picking up an HDTV to catch the next installment, Survivor: Gabon. I still say they should have made the logo a little more colorful, though.
