Superman is still around

with one comment

I’d like to say that I’m glad to see the return of Superman last summer in Superman Returns has had a lasting effect.

Seems like I can walk into a Wal-Mart once a month and still manage to find a new item with some form of the Superman logo engraved on it.

Just in the past week, I’ve managed to see Supes-themed Easter egg baskets, easter eggs, and the usual beach towels and bed sheets…etc.

They’re also gearing up for Spiderman 3…the little easter eggs that look like Spiderman’s head gave me a laugh.

I don’t ever remember seeing this much movie-themed movie merchandise in stores before….Have you?

New Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer Posters!

leave a comment »

I found these new character posters to be pretty cool. This is looking to be a sleeper movie this summer. I’m not sure there’s many people who realize it’s coming out.

The pictures came from a Russian web site, and I’ve provided a link in case you want to see the full versions. The full versions should also show up if you click the thumbnails below.

Heroes 1.18- “Parasite” Recap

leave a comment »

Wow….all I can say is this show is easily my favorite of all the new ones this season, and also is quite possibly tops on my list for all the shows I currently watch. Where do I even begin? Some points still aren’t clear, so I may need to rewatch this episode at some point.

Claire’s father is back to business as usual, only now he’s trying to hunt down his daughter since she was hidden from him. HRG’s employers grill him for information, but he’s useless…until we find out that his wife didn’t get wiped, she only pretended too.

Then, there’s the followup to Simone getting shot by Isaac….I thought it was interesting that Isaac felt the need to go to the drugs. Did he need them because he was upset, or was he not able to paint without them again? I thought it wasn’t really clear. I’d really like to know who’s head that was in the painting.

I thought it was kind of pointless how each commerical break teased about the upcoming reveal of Linderman. We’ve know it for weeks, yet they continue to pound it in to us like we don’t watch every preview. I can’t recall the actor’s name that plays him, but I’ve definitely seen him somewhere. I thought he pulled off the role very convincingly, and somehow I find myself wanting to know more about him…..He seems very sly and devlish.

And is anyone relieve Hiro finally got the sword back? I know I am! He finally has his powers back…..I’m trying to figure out what effect they’re teleporting to the future and seeing they didn’t stop the bomb will have on their “journey”….again, I’m kind of confused….

Possibly my favorite part of the episode was the new character, Candice. We have a Mystique on the show now! I always get a kick out of seeing the new people’s powers and comparing them to what X-Men character has the same traits…. I thought her scenes were especially cool….I was initially wondering why Claire’s mom was saying that stuff on the phone…then it hit me. Should have seen that coming.

The ones I’m waiting for now are a Gambit and a Colossus….those would be some cool characters too.

And I’m pretty sure Mohinder is done…judging how he’s hanging from the ceiling. This would make my initial guess correct, though it’s not quite official yet. We’ll see in a month and a half if Peter can bust out his powers and battle Sylar….It’s going to be a good showdown if you ask me…..too bad I have to wait until April 23rd.

New Spiderman 3 Trailer Revealed

leave a comment »

There’s a convention called WonderCon going on right now, and people there were apparently shown a new Venom-centric trailer that is supposedly pretty good. I thought I’d read the article, but then stopped myself a couple of sentences in so that I can be surprised when I see it later this week.

For those who may not know, if you go to see 300 this week, there is going to be yet another Spiderman 3 trailer out. It seems like this is one more than usual, and I’m honestly hoping they haven’t shown all the major action sequences, but at this rate, it seems like they will have given up a heck of a lot of footage.

Either way, I’m sure the movie will still be good….it’s just getting to the point where movie execs make so many previews they give away all the cool scenes and lots of plot points.

Maybe we’ll be lucky enough to see the trailer posted online early before Friday.

New Spiderman 3 Poster

leave a comment »

Aint It Cool has this post, and so does Coming Soon! It’s supposedly a new poster, but it doesn’t have any writing on it. I’m assuming it may later transform magically into a poster for the movie.

Either way….that black symbiote creep up Spidey’s arm is pretty darn cool!

Heroes….Volume 2

leave a comment »

That’s right….Heroes‘ second season will be referred to as Volume 2, with new characters and a new story. I’d like to think these new characters will be in addition to the ones that will be left at the end of this season. Surely they wouldn’t completely start over.

Either way..it’s a good sign. Heroes is around to stay!

Spidey Visits Some Heroes

leave a comment »

Surely this has been mentioned on the Heroes official site, as well as numerous other outlets, but don’t forget that next week during Heroes (well…probably after) they’ll have a look at Spiderman 3. I think I heard this will contain an extended clip (and possibly some sort of actor/director commentary or look behind the scenes).

I know I’ll tune in…I think. I’m considering staying away to avoid any potential spoilers, but I haven’t decided yet. Probably will be a last minute decision.

Fantastic Four 2 TV Spot

with one comment

This spot popped up during Heroes last night, and somewhere else too.  Glad to finally see another look.  Jessica Alba has a new look going on….don’t know if it’s just the longer hair or what.

I have really high hopes for this movie…pretty sure to be entertaining, and considering I almost always like superhero movies, I think this should be a blast.

Heroes 1.17- “Company Man”

with one comment

Overall, I was very impressed with this episode.  I’ll be interested to see if Beeman updates his blog and says who directed this episode, because it had a distinct style to it that really made the story that much more entertaining.

I liked how it stepped back to the alternate perspective of Matt and Ted in the house before the Bennets got home.  There was a lot of time spent in the house during the episode but that was not a problem for me.   The real action started later in the episode.

Ted did a lot of walking and pacing, and I didn’t expect him to be used the way he did.  I thought he’d be on the offensive, hurling fireballs and trying to torch everything.  Turns out he gets shot and loses control of his powers (I think…anyone know exactly why?)

The main question I have is how HRG’s boss managed to sneak into scenes and people didn’t even ask why he was there.  I’ll need to rewatch this episode to get everything cleared up.  I was disappointed to have another no-show by Peter…after all his powers were unleashed last week, I guess he deserved a break.

There were, as I predicted, some really big “Wow moments”.

1) The nuclear stuff going on while Ted  freaked out….Was that nuclear winter starting to happen?  Or just ash?  Either way, it was pretty nifty.

2) That shot of HRG standing and then getting blown back by force of the explosion…for some reason, it just looks cool.

3) The black and white flashbacks….totally badass, and totally appropriate for the tone of the episode.  Well done.

Lots more,  that I can’t remember.  I’ll have to add more once I’ve seen and studied some more.  This show is definitely going to be huge going into its finale….And at least it answered a few more questions than  Lost has in its past 9 episodes.

Heroes 2.16- “Unexpected”

leave a comment »

Consider everything ahead a MAJOR SPOILER ALERT for tonight’s episode of Heroes.

Heroes was back in top form tonight, in possibly my favorite episode thus far.  It’s really nice to see Peter finally realizing his full potential.

For a minute, I was worried the death of the episode would be Claude, but they wouldn’t dare touch Christopher Eccleston!  He’s just too cool…. They’ll probably save it for the end of the season ::sigh::.

There was a cool reveal of Hana, who in my opinion has the coolest power of the bunch, the power to intercept and manipulate wireless data signals (she can get on the internet without a computer….very geeky, and very cool!)  Somehow, I think she’s probably hiding some sort of martial arts ability, which she probably learned Matrix-style by downloading programs into her memory.

Grunberg rocked it as usual…It’s like there are two sides of the people with abilities…I liken it to an episode of X-Men…where they have the Brotherhood on one side, and the X-Men on the other….

Another cool shout-out….having Stan Lee make a cameo….

I was actually pretty bummed that they knocked off the lady with supersonic hearing so quick…that’s another cool power!  Nice to see Sylar is actually vulnerable though….he’s probably not glad he inherited those headaches from her.

Overall, strong episode….makes me ready for next week as usual.  I’m expecting big fireworks…literally.
