Bargain Bin Lookout- April 13th, 2008

Here’s my highlights from this week’s bargain bins!

Best Buy

There’s no bargain bins for some reason this week, but in place of bargain bin deals, here’s some suggestions for TV sets that are at good buys at $19.99 this week.

The Office: Season 2 and Season 3- Anyone who’s an avid Office watcher that doesn’t have these sets yet really should pick them up. Or, if you wait for TV on DVD to see if you like shows, this is one good place to start. Season 2 is easily some of the most rewatchable television ever produced. A good comparison is Scrubs….If you like that, then The Office should be right up your alley.

Heroes: Season 1-These aren’t nearly as exciting to watch on multiple viewings, but you’ll probably enjoy being able to watch through the whole season without interruption. This show can easily be compared to Lost with superheroes. It’s very complex, and at times can get hard to follow, but the reward comes in the form of mutants using their superpowers and some of the coolest cliffhanger endings you’ll come across….If you’re a fan of X-Men, there will be scenes in this set that will make you squeal with joy….

Scrubs: Seasons 1-6– Again, this show is very quirky, but if you are a fan of shows like The Office you might enjoy these. I started out hating this one, but after getting used to The Office style, it really got much funnier to me. Again…quality TV on DVD at a low price!

Others: How I Met Your Mother: S1 and S2 ($19.99 each),

Circuit City

$6.99

Jurassic Park: The Lost World– This sequel is about equal with the original. It mixes it up a little more, but it’s still Spielberg at his best. If you liked the original, you’ll like this one. All the dinosaurs (with some new additions), all the action….A must own.

Swordfish– This movie still confuses me every time I watch it, but I really don’t care. It’s Hugh Jackman before his Wolverine days, and it’s still a very good action movie….Even if you don’t get it, after it’s over you just might understand how you can be confused by a movie and still like it!

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban– Still holds up as one of the two best adaptations of the Potter novels to date (ties with Order of the Phoenix). Potter fan or film aficionado…this is a great movie to add to the collection this week.

Others: Happy Gilmore, Dazed & Confused, The Sixth Sense

That’s all this week…Juno is the big new release this week. Pretty sure just about everyone who sees it will like it.
