Eddie Murphy Walks Out

leave a comment »

I’m not surprised by an article I just read that says Eddie Murphy walked out of the Oscars after losing the Best Supporting Actor Award for Dreamgirls to Alan Arkin. I still remember watching Bill Murray trying to bolt after losing for Lost in Translation.

Honestly, is Eddie really that surprised? If you do a movie like Norbit right after doing one like Dreamgirls, I don’t think the Academy will look at that in a positive light. I saw this coming a mile away, and maybe it will alter Eddie Murphy’s film choices down the road….We’ll see.

Since I’m still catching up on Season 5, I haven’t seen all the bad things Ex-President Logan has apparently done….I do know that he’s an evil man, and undoubtedly there has to be some reason why he’s doing what he is.  I’m sure we’ll find out soon enough…either that, or he may be offed pretty quick.

It’s getting kind of annoying to listen to Morris have to deny drinking at least 5 different times each episode.  I’m thinking it’s also leading to something different, but every time it’s just like it’s an excuse to keep him on screen after he’s been so burnt out from realizing he’s responsible for arming all those nukes.

Other than that, not a whole lot this evening….there’s got to be some sort of revelation coming up.  That explosion wasn’t really a surprise….how many is that so far this season?  like a thousand?  They are exciting, but this one was hyped all episode so it was no surprise.  I just wonder how long Reed can go on covering up for the disappearance of Tom Lennox….he’s been gone awhile now…I think he’s been tied up close to an episode and a half now….

Preview looks decent…that picture of Jack tempting Markov (right name?) with that cigar cutters doesn’t make me think that all those talks about too much torture have really sunk in yet.

Rainn Wilson SNL Business Meeting Short (Video)

This was another funny portion of Rainn Wilson’s hosting gig on SNL this past Saturday.  It’s quite funny, and not suprisingly is in an office environment.  Video below

Heroes 1.17- “Company Man”

with one comment

Overall, I was very impressed with this episode.  I’ll be interested to see if Beeman updates his blog and says who directed this episode, because it had a distinct style to it that really made the story that much more entertaining.

I liked how it stepped back to the alternate perspective of Matt and Ted in the house before the Bennets got home.  There was a lot of time spent in the house during the episode but that was not a problem for me.   The real action started later in the episode.

Ted did a lot of walking and pacing, and I didn’t expect him to be used the way he did.  I thought he’d be on the offensive, hurling fireballs and trying to torch everything.  Turns out he gets shot and loses control of his powers (I think…anyone know exactly why?)

The main question I have is how HRG’s boss managed to sneak into scenes and people didn’t even ask why he was there.  I’ll need to rewatch this episode to get everything cleared up.  I was disappointed to have another no-show by Peter…after all his powers were unleashed last week, I guess he deserved a break.

There were, as I predicted, some really big “Wow moments”.

1) The nuclear stuff going on while Ted  freaked out….Was that nuclear winter starting to happen?  Or just ash?  Either way, it was pretty nifty.

2) That shot of HRG standing and then getting blown back by force of the explosion…for some reason, it just looks cool.

3) The black and white flashbacks….totally badass, and totally appropriate for the tone of the episode.  Well done.

Lots more,  that I can’t remember.  I’ll have to add more once I’ve seen and studied some more.  This show is definitely going to be huge going into its finale….And at least it answered a few more questions than  Lost has in its past 9 episodes.

Prison Break 2.18- “Wash”

with one comment

Overall, the episode was fairly straightforward…Apparently Michael and Linc didn’t think there was any possibility the guy they thought was the lawyer was a stand-in.

I thought it was cool they showed Kellerman talk to his sister, even though they were really comfortable despite having not spoken for 15 years….And how good is security at the airport when one of the 8 most wanted men in America is able to put on a pair of glasses and pass himself off as a therapist and leave the country?

The most annoying part of the episode, which they’re probably saving for some later revelation….Why couldn’t we hear what was on the tape?!  Don’t show them listening and their reactions and not let us hear what’s going on…..Just delaying the inevitable.

Anywho…I don’t see this show lasting much longer than a 13-episode season next year.  It’s clear they’re running out of ideas.  Still entertaining, but getting a little out there in terms of believability.  Guess we’ll see if C-Note lives next time around.

Monday Night Preview

with 2 comments

So tonight is, as always, a great night of television-

Prison Break- I’m pretty sure we’ll find out what is on that USB stick…it better be pretty big.  Methinks that by the end of the episode the group may splinter a bit.  I hope that’s not the case.  Hard to believe Season 2 is already wrapping up.

Heroes- “Company Man”- A standoff with Ted, Hana and Matt versus the Benetts.  Should be a lot of pyrotechnics on this one….I hear this is the best episode yet, and I hope that it is…It looks plain awesome!  That promo I posted last week is still one of the coolest I’ve seen in recent memory.

24- I’m assuming Jack follows up on that lead his dad gave him…where it leads him I guessing will either be a trap or something of extreme importance just like every other episode.  I can’t believe this one is already almost half over!  Seems like it just premiered yesterday.  I have a sneaky feeling there’s a shocking death coming up that we won’t see coming….At least it will be a surprise if it does happen!

Any others I missed?  Thoughts?

Lucky Visit..Proceed to be jealous

leave a comment »

I was just reading up at Give Me My Remote that they scored a set visit to The Office….I have this wild and crazy (and potentially unrealistic) idea that one day this blog will be popular enough to score me a visit too..

Chances are unlikely, but I’ll hold on to a glimmer of hope….a very small one.

Great TV on tonight!

Heroes 1.17- “Company Man” Snippets

with one comment

So I’m getting excited about tonight’s latest episode of Heroes. It’s especially cool that we will finally learn more about HRG, and by the looks of the previews, there’s going to be some fire-action. I personally hope for some cool visual effects of Ted throwing fireballs around the Bennett household.

I’m thinking there will be a death tonight, but I don’t expect anyone major to be killed…Possibly Claire’s mom or brother…Maybe Ted also, but somehow I think he’ll stick around till at least the end of this season.

I’ve got a couple of links below, one explains more in general about HRG and what to expect, the other is spoilery (so I stopped reading it so I’m surprised), so consider yourselves warned.

It’s a good night of TV for me…I’ve got Battlestar, Heroes, 24, and Prison Break to tide me over for the evening….At least it won’t be as drawn out as last night’s Oscars….that got a little tedious by the end.

Sunday Recaps…delayed

I’ll write up some recaps of Battlestar and The Amazing Race tomorrow night.  I got sucked into watching the Oscars, which were somewhat disappointing. I really wish Little Miss Sunshine could have pulled out a victory….

Lost 3.10- “Tricia Tanaka is Dead” Sneak Peek

with one comment

Here’s a scene from this week’s Lost episode…..Looks like we’re finally headed back to the real island with all the other characters on it. Hoping for a rebound, and some more interesting plot development…these past two weeks have been less than perfect, but I’m still holding out for a big revelation or something.

We’ll see.
