I think it’s easy to say that The Dark Knight will be the most successful film this summer, and it earns all the praise it’s received…

Heath Ledger’s Joker is absolutely horrifying, and it’s a shame he isn’t around to see his finished product. Ledger’s Jo…(read more) ker makes Jack Nicholson’s look like a Saturday morning cartoon…..there’s no comparison anymore. This is how the Joker was meant to be seen.

Overall, this had a different feel from Batman Begins, and that’s OK. It’s a sequel…there’s no origin story here.

At just over 2.5 hrs, it did seem like there were some opportunities to shave the run-time a little….but, the extra time leaves you looking forward to the next scene that has the Joker in it…..

And I just saw this on another site, and have to say, once you see this, you’ll absolutely never forget the Joker’s magic trick….

Can’t wait to see this in IMAX!  After thinking over it all day, I’m starting to realize how epic, amazing, awesome and fun this movie was to experience.

Now, if if manages to break Spidey 3’s record at the box-office, I’ll be one happy camper…BustedTees would totally have to make a shirt for that occasion, and I’d buy it, no questions asked.

Rumors are now circulating that the teaser trailer for the latest entry in the Potter series, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince will NOT be attached to The Dark Knight.

I don’t see how Warner Bros. couldn’t take the opportunity to showcase the latest installment with the huge audiences that The Dark Knight is going to pull in.

The movie is like 6 months away, and we’ve see nothing except the rush of photos this week.  I think this is a clear indicator that a teaser is due…..How can they make us wait any longer?!

The pictures that have released have excitement building, why not capitalize on that and satisfy everyone with a teaser trailer already!

Seems Potter mania is kicking off with the media blitz today (well, technically last night), setting the stage for the upcoming teaser trailer.

I’m totally getting psyched for the next Potter movie…Hard to believe Order of the Phoenix was already like a year ago.

By the look of the other photos over at FirstShowing.net, this one is going to continue to improve upon and draw from the previous entries…In particular, I’m thinking Warner Bros. made an awesome choice with David Yates.

This guy clearly understands everything Potter.  I’m also looking forward to the romantic tension aspects that he’s mentioned in this USA Today article.  Could lead to some good comedic moments with Ron and Hermione if you ask me.

“They’re about to kiss, then the bloody Death Eaters turn up and cause all sorts of anarchy.” How about this teaser instead? Yates explains that he chose to let the actors improvise scenes, including “one between Harry and Ginny that is fraught with romantic tension.” As for Ron Weasley, he’s not left out either. Ron eats some charmed chocolates and is “overcome with romantic fervor.” And in turn, “he’s in a daze and madly in love, which is kind of alarming to any warm body who comes into close proximity.” Yates adds, of the abundant romance at Hogwarts, that “there’s a kind of maturity that is quite adventurous.”

There’s a new trailer up for the latest Bond film, which surprisingly hits in just a four months!

After watching the new Quantum of Solace trailer a few times, I must say it preserves the feeling of Casino Royale, while also creating some new iconic images.

In particular, I love that shot of Bond slowly coming up over the rock cliff with the reveal of the machine gun in his hand.  That’s a screen capture for wallpaper on the computer if I’ve ever seen one.

FirstShowing.net has a post detailing the latest “sequel” news, and it got me thinking….Has Hollywood really shifted so much as to totally rely on sequels to fill their summer calendars?

Detailed are the following possible sequels:

Kung-Fu Panda 2- This one just came out, and was pretty successful….of course, rumblings of a sequel will start immediately.  Hopefully Dreamworks doesn’t go the Shrek route with this one, because that franchise went downhill right after they announced Shrek 2,3, and 4.

Hellboy III- It’s been like 6 years since the first one came out, and it underperformed…Still, a sequel managed to be greenlit and it releases in a few weeks.  The thing is, I don’t see Hellboy 2 sticking around much after it’s first week considering it faces The Dark Knight the following week.  I’ll give this one a shot, simply because it’s sure to be visually stunning, after seeing how the trailers have turned out.

300 Sequel-  They couldn’t really call it 300- Part 2…that’d be weird.  This one just feels like it should be left alone.  It can’t really relate to anything in the first one could it?  They already told that story…..Seriously, there is such a thing as too much of a good thing.

Bourne 4 - While I’ll still be intrigued by anything Bourne-related, I really wish they would have let this series go out on top after The Bourne Ultimatum.  That movie rocked….now, they’ll have to make their own story since the author, Robert Ludlum, had no involvement in any of the books after the first three.  In my eyes, that knocks expectations down a bit…Still, if the day comes where there’s another Bourne movie comes out, and the trailers look anywhere near the quality of the first three films…I guess they can keep going.  But…I have my doubts.

There’s others…but these stick out the most.  I’m all for inventing new franchises, but some of these movies seem ridiculous to even attempt sequels at.

Saw Get Smart this morning….sad to report that there’s no Harry Potter trailer attached to this WB movie.

I think it’s beyond impossible that it won’t show up now in a few weeks with The Dark Knight. That’s the most high-profile release left yet…..There’s good trailers on the horizon….I’m willing to bet almost anything that a Quantum of Solace trailer hits with Hancock.

Looking forward to the weeks ahead.

FirstShowing.net has fueled the hype for Marvel’s future movie slate by posting about rumors that the studio is gunning to get Leonardo DiCaprio to step into the shoes of Captain America for the still-far-out 2011 tentpole, The First Avenger: Captain America.

Honestly, I think he’s a good fit for the role, if it’s true.  It’s going to be interesting to see who Marvel picks, because the hype is already building after all the hints and winks The Incredible Hulk threw out for the film. There’s even rumors that he was cut out of The Incredible Hulk…or was at least supposed to show up in some capacity.

SPOILER ALERT

He never does show up….they just mention the serum, and a little nod to World War II when they first tested it on a soldier….Heck, they even refer to Tim Roth as a “super soldier”, which is exactly what they called the Captain America prototype before he took the Captain America name.

I’m a sucker for comic book movies, and I’m glad Marvel is self-containing and interweaving all of their movies.  It’s a good step toward making them their own films….I just hope Captain America can compare to Iron Man, because no other summer movie has lived up to the hype like it did…

Let the speculation run wild until whenever Marvel finds their next big star….I’m already psyched!

I’m what seems to be one of a very small portion of people who are eager to see this week’s The Incredible Hulk.  I’m really hoping that it’s a hit for Marvel after the disaster that was Hulk back in 2004.

I guess what’s obvious from this is that this weekend’s box office take for the film could be substantially hampered by the bad taste in everyone’s mouth from Ang Lee’s drama-filled disaster on the first try.

I personally am keeping the bar low, although I’m still getting more excited as the day nears.  I’ve heard rumblings that it’s just as good as Iron Man, which, if true, really is saying something.  Iron Man started off summer right, and has been one of my favorite movies of the year (not just comic book inspired either).

Hopefully word of mouth helps this one out, although it’s got a lot of competition, seeing as there’s a big release every week until the end of the summer movie season in early August.

Fingers crossed that it’s good…Look for reactions here after I see it.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

Anyone else notice how studios shy away from sticking to numbers in the title….I guess it doesn’t always work, but I think in some cases it works…others it doesn’t. Spiderman 2 is the most obvious choice….that movie wouldn’t be the same if it had a subtitle.

Still…this sounds cool, and I’m still finding it hard to believe that in just about a year a sequel to Transformers will already be hitting the big screen…..

ComingSoon.net has a new entry on the upcoming Green Hornet movie that made me want to sound off.

I remember stumbling onto some episodes of the TV show The Green Hornet many years ago, and remember not enjoying it at all. I know I may have been much younger, but Rogen’s audience primarily consists of the 15-30 year old sector that I’m a part of now, and while he may be able to pique some interest in reviving an old-school TV show into an action movie (action comedy, perhaps?), this one wreaks of “Summer Blockbusters that FLOP”. (It’s currently slated for June 2010)

Suddenly, Seth Rogen has become somewhat of a hot commodity, after hits like Knocked Up and Superbad (not so much for his acting, but he is in it). And the thing is, they’re billing this as an action movie. I highly doubt it’s in a league with action movies that first come to mind, and I’ll need some convincing to buy Seth Rogen as an action hero…..In any sense of the word.

No disrespect toward Rogen, but I don’t think The Green Hornet is as appealing as he thinks (him, and whoever else’s idea it was). After a little more surfaces from this film (it’s not even totally written yet), I might be open to the possibility of Rogen in the role of the Green Hornet and to the film itself.

Until then, I’m not buyin’ it…..
